Day and night out... all nighter

Day and night out... all nighter

Here we go, dinner time and Yamamori on South Great George Street is waiting for us as we all have great hunger after few pints of that black gold soup called Guinness. After some time at best pub in Dublin, well one of the best as I have not drank in all of them but Grogan’s on corner of South William Street and Castle Market street is good place to get nice Guinness for sure. Also not that I have not seen sunshine but for Dublin this is rare event and there is a lot of lassies out in summer dresses enjoying that rare occurrence with lads enjoying it too. I mean, well you got my drift what the lads enjoyed 😊So far the city center is hopping with people and all streets are covered with young and medium young people, enjoying the drink and conversation. Anyhow since it was a long time when I had that gold black ambrosia I’ve got a bit hungry and lightheaded so Yamamori was set as destination in control center and order was given to the two sticks carrying the meat bag to filling station.

It is a nice thing to see, that some things stay over the time such as good restaurant or Pub and I have only good memories from the Yamamori and not all of them are about food. Get there a little bit a later so we were lucky to have lot of seating options, or it is sign that food is overrated and people rather drink more. Well as person in midlife age I rather have some solid food in my belly before continue with pouring black gold down the throat. Since we were waiting form Frank, who classically said he is on the way…. Mobiles are so good for laying sometimes. Well we knew that he might or not arrive so we ordered and begun our social event with hungry eyes and stomachs.

Not that I think of myself as some Casanova or some hunk who is impossible not to look at but there was girl across on the other table who cannot be older than twenty five and looked at me or at our table. I guess I do not want to ruin this great illusion so I assume she is looking at me and therefore I still have mojo. Since Sebastian has his fiancée at his side I would take the smile from the girl as for me and what a happy middle-aged man I’m now.

Anyhow Frank arrived eventually and it was after we cleared the food and bill and were ready to leave the restaurant. As it was near closing time he ordered some food and double drinks and we had a few laughs before he polished the drinks and plates of food. Since the young generation was too tired to continue on Pub crawl we got them on the DART and then went to see the city of night lights, since there is a whole night bus service to Swords.

What a trip, in first one we were told by bouncer that we are too old to enter, well that was the first time I heard that I’m not allowed to go inside night club because I’m too old. Middle age showed probably so was a bit disappointed especially since just a while ago the young girl was winking and smiling on me. Anyhow well when we look around we realized that this is a good call as we would be there as school principals on patrol. What the heck those young are doing there in the night and how they can afford those drink prices is beyond my understanding.

However there are some good reliable pub on Wexford street and so we aimed there, classic the Flannery’s Bar is always welcoming thirsty people with money and since middle age is equal to money we were let in and at the entrance it look good, few age similar people around the bar drinking, talking and having a good time as one should do in the Bar. It was a bit noisy as the area is a small ish so we continued to smoking garden as this is huge and one can talk there. However it much be college drink night as the girls were defo in age group of eighteen and maybe just maybe some could be twenty years old. Anyhow black gold was served, so we ordered, paid and drank in slowly while conversing about the most serious world problems as one tend to do that as if it was UN meeting and world need to be saved.

Some drinks and looks at those girls we decided that we sorted all world crisis and problems and should probably hit the road to home. It would not be Dublin if one can go straight home from bar, not a fat chance as the Wheelan’s Music Venue still served and there was some laughter and music sneaking out through the doors so we pop in for one, two, three last drinks and then eventually hit the road home. Since the Frank is famous for his late night drunk curry chips we had to stop at Charlies 3 at Westmoreland street, before we could go take the famous 41 to Swords.

I can safely say that the all night bus was a great invention as previously in my younger years I spent way too much money on taxis and night links so finally someone at Dublin Bus HO had a bright idea of running the bus 41 all night. Not only for drunks like us but for travelers who are going to airport for late, well in this case early morning flights and also people who went to work for early shifts.

Seems like long and boring night but be honest I really don’t remember when I had pulled all night session with drink and it felt good, really good. When the company is good and Black Gold is pouring fresh the time is flying like the Concorde used to from Paris to New York. Now I’m going to crash and burn in my bed as the middle age has its limits at the end.

Time to leave.
