From Hospital in Hua Hin to Kuala Lumpur
Where were we… ? ahh good morning from our campsite at front of the ICU in Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin, where Frank and me were spending time while Nook was recovering from quite serious head surgery as much as she would like to get out but the doctor advice needs to be followed. As we woke up the breakfast was delivered by Nook’s Mom so all I went to get was usual order or double espresso and late to kick start the day “ as if the situation itself was not enough”. I would say that ten o’clock could not come soon enough for Frank as he waited to be able enter the ICU and see his love and wife. Meanwhile sitting in beige leather armchairs watching the beige floor or wall or mobile phone but not so much the mobile phone as I believe that his head was somewhere else that to use for answering messages or dealing with the non-important stuff as this situation will defo show you what is important if you not know this already as Frank does. Ten o’clock is here so he went in and saw the Nook and doctor and after while they were told that today she can move to the normal room and recover there what was relieve for both of them as this means that she is over the most critical period, what a relive this is. Everyone mood elevated a few meters and some of the weights dropped from the shoulders of everyone in family and friends. In a short while bed emerged from the ICU double glass doors surrounded by nurses and doctor as the F1 monopost is surrounded by the mechanics in the docks and wheeled her across the newly redone beige vinyl floor to the lift and up to the 5th floor. Slight difference was that the nurses did not looked like hot pit girls in their bikinis or hot pants holding umbrella over the driver but more like the mechanics in their light brown uniforms. Room is now the smaller one not the superior with foyer but still nice room with private bathroom and Nook is on the bed and resting. Now is time to find hostel for few days, since there is no foyer where I could sleep and I declined the offer from Nook and Frank to stay in the room with them as this is important time in their lives as much as it is not the time they imagined it will be after the wedding. Went online and booked the Euro Hostel as it was cheapest and I need only place to sleep. Hostel booked and now some food for lunch, so me and Frank went to get some food and talk a bit as the relieve was huge that Nook is o.k and out of I.C.U. Afterwards I stayed for a while and then packed my backpack and went to hostel to check in and we said that we catch up for a beer later. Got the green bus for ten baht and here I’m checking to the normal room and bed after while spend on the sofas, floors and armchairs. Got a key and could not wait for shower and rest. Whoa what a surprise when I opened my room it was just room with mattresses on the floor like in the refugees camp you see on the TV but I was so tired that I really don’t cared that much and took the one near window, what I opened straight away to let some nice fresh air in, turned fan on and went to shower. It was early evening so sun was low close to sunset and the air was cool, filled with scent of the grass and trees around the hostel and a street noise in distance as the room was on the 3rd floor and the hotels itself is in the side street. Felt so good after shower I sat down on my “bed” mattress and thought that I would go for dinner and beer with Frank and as I reached for my mobile I stretched on the mattress and that was the last thing I remember as I woke up next morning at 8:00 am. The window was closed and as I looked at the bed next to me there was one guy still sleeping so I took the phone turn the sound off and checked the missed messages from Frank who was calling me for a beer while I was sleeping. Well that was a nice sleep I had to say and you don’t know how much you miss the bed and good sleep until you get a decent sleep. Shower, pack the back pack and back in hospital to catch the coffee time 😊 then chatting away and then as the nurse came to take Nook for walk i.e. exercise we got some time with Frank to talk and then he decided to leave to see kids and I stayed with Nook to talk, sit and later walk as well as exercise is important doctor said. We went for two walks and as we went for second one we sat down at the steps outside in the shade and talked, Frank appeared and all three of us went up to the room. Now is time to organize accommodation for kids and Frank’s mom as well as talk to insurance what they will pay for and when they can leave for home. For the moment the Insurance agreed to pay for Novotel so kids could have great time in the pool. All organized we had lunch together, than came back to room do more walks with Nook and talk and eventually the things normalized as much as they could in such situation, with Nook still wanted go home ASAP what doctors must be tired hearing about. Since Nook was in better shape Frank and me went out for dinner and few beers to wash down the stress and toast to the Nook’s health. I heard great definition of love once in the movie… “you don’t know what love means until you love someone that much that you rather die instead of the loved person” and I think that I saw this worry in his eyes while we were eating, drinking and have to say when your best mate is in deep end it is hard sometimes to be positive as you feel the pain and sorrow too. However I hope that by being there I was able to alleviate the pain and sorrow he experienced. As we walked back I took the green bus and went to the hostel, where I was ready to negotiate the real room not a refugee campsite and as I approached reception in calm manner I asked for the normal room not the one I had upon which short discussion with receptionist and his assistant took place and they tried to convince me that this is temporary and that the room will be available shortly but I said I paid for what was advertised on the website in time of booking what was normal bunkbed in shared room. Well few minutes later they realized that I will not move back and I have received key from the new room with air condition what I was told is upgrade as I booked only room with ventilator. This time I’ve received a normal nice room with fans and air con and two room-mates, one blond American girl on left hand side and really really enormous huge thai man who went on snoring like timber saw… poor girls was ready to leave the room when I offered her spare ear plugs I had and then she was able to fall asleep like me, without any problem. I woke up again fresh and the man was gone, so it must be early morning for him as I was up at 7:30am. Since my visa were nearly expired, we talked with Frank over the coffee that we will got for lunch to Bluepool shopping and get them extended, however I went on my own as Frank need to stay with Nook and it turned out to be a little bit difficult to do so, since I do not have my permanent address and also that my address of hostel where I will stay in Koh Tao for diving course belongs to different district. Well based on this I decided to get a trip to Kuala Lumpur to get proper visa on the embassy. Well we talked about it with Frank and he agreed that this is good idea since I need more that 30 days visa for my course and extension is only for 30 days so better be to get 60 days visa from embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Book the flight, hostel and get ready by leaving few items from my back pack with Frank as I cannot take them as check in luggage and then we talked and walked with Nook. Dinner outside with Frank and pancake under the AXA office 😊 and I was ready for last night in Hua Hin as tomorrow is flight to Kuala Lumpur. Went to say good night to Nook and then took to hostel with promise to come say good bye before leaving for the airport, next day, what I did. Woke up, hit the green bus to hospital for a breakfast and coffee with Frank and then after short walk with Nook I left for the airport by green bus. Since the green bus took long I jumped off at one of the other stops at hospital and thought that I would be quicker at airport by walking but I was not …. The bus emerged from another side street front of me and I was stranded on the side of the road so I used Grab to get a ride to the airport and thankfully there was one available near me. The airport was near and was so small that i was gone through security and passport check in 5 min and then sat down at boarding room for long. Well rather sooner than later 😊 Air Asia is on time and we were boarding as soon as the passengers disembarked from the landed plane. Airport itself is near the sea and I mean literally the runway is finishing about four meters from the sea, so you could just walk up from the beach to the plane 😊 All in and we are taking off heading to Kuala Lumpur and all the prices are in ringgits now so now need to calculate new exchange rate. Plane is full and I could not get the emergency seat as stewardess on this flight were strict and not let anyone to take any other seat that the one that was booked. Well got my seat and after we were cruising I ordered food as I was hungry and the neighbor sitting beside me does not looked appetizing. Food in and then I can type a bit of and eventually closed eyes for some snooze until we reach the Kuala Lumpur.
