San Diego visit
San Diego trip now since the floating is covered separately 😊 The flight to San Diego was a quite long from Belize through Miami took a whole day so when I landed and went for my luggage I nearly did not recognize Marcela waiting for me at luggage collection point as I was feeling like dismantled Lego in the box after shaking up. Thankfully she recognized me as otherwise I would be wondering around like ghost. Get the little suitcase and head off to the car park lot and we hit the interstate 8 on the way to home. Not much to say as i soon as I was showed the room and bed I was ready to get to bed and get some real decent sleep, last thing I remembered was Marcela saying that she is gone for business trip next day for two days and that the Jean, her other half will be home in afternoon and that I can use their third car to get around, then it was auto shut down of AV systems. Woke up, partially refreshed after sleep we met downstairs and had breakfast, coffee and then went for some quick drive around to the mall get some food supplies so I will not perish by starvation while Marcela is off travelling and catch up on the life, while driving since she is catching afternoon flight. I decided to stay in house or rather say not decided but just did not thought of anything as I was still knackered from jet lag so I positioned myself on the sofa and drifted out to snooze time until I heard the garage door what means that Jean is home. It is like from movies for me, going out and in through double garage with automatic door. Jean came in and for split second he looked like he forgot about me and was surprise to see me there but then retrieved memory and smiled and welcomed me. We had a brief chat but then he went to his home office to do some work so I was just relaxing with Netflix at couch and flicking movies, series as jet-lag zombie. As I was about flicking more documentaries Jean came down and we talked and talked about spirituality, what I found interesting and refreshing as well as knowledgeable. Since I was still in zombie land I was going to bed early at 9pm as Jean since he is waking up really early but I was so tired that I just could not operate anymore AV and the control room was shutting down too so hit the pillow and slept till morning 9am. Felt a better after two nights of sleep but still after breakfast I took nap and when I woke up it was afternoon and it was time to get some fuel or as they say groceries so I decided to take a spin in V6 auto Honda down to the mall what Marcela showed me earlier. Have to say that fruit and veg here is so fresh and tasty that I was surprised and pears even had seeds inside so hopefully they were organic. Got a nice beautiful tuna steak and salad as I felt like I need to lighted up the food after the fried and diet from Belize and therefore I prepared the salad for all of us as Marcela was returning home that day. As Jean came in he brought fried chicken and tuna was left in the fridge as we had salad and fried chicken for dinner. Marcela was asking what I have done in those two days and I said that not much as I was catching up on sleep and just chatted to Jean, helped him to plan a tree in their back garden and did a spin with car around, mainly to mall. Another early night as I was again in state of near jet-lag zombie so I took it to bed to be fresh next day. Woke up early, got a breakfast and then head out to explore city after the rain stopped since it was a raining a bit in the morning but as soon as the sun poked from behind clouds I drove to Rocky’s park, i.e. Balboa Park where is the ZOO, art village, international village with houses of various countries, museums and generally lots of green areas. It is so nice to see another town full of green, what reminds me of Dublin also with lots of parks and green areas. Walked around the park, then got in the Japanese garden and just admire the beauty in the sunshine, meditate by the stream listening to water gushing through the rock of small rapids as sitting at the bench in shade =, feeling the wind on my skin. What a beautiful garden nicely hidden in small valley in the middle of big busy park, where I can hear birds and water only. Stayed there for few hours as I found another nice meditation place beside the statue and stream on the sun this time. Then walked around the biggest outdoor organ what is in the middle of the park, down the photography museum, towards Cabrillo bridge what is nice structure over the freeway heading to downtown, from where is nice photo of tower and entrance to park. There was lots of building activity going around as they all prepared for December Night what was advertised on various billboard around the park and the food trucks as well as tents were coming up and being hooked to electricity as I was walking around. I have took turns as I wished to see some more of green and fountain until I came across the directional signs for rose and cactus garden what was over the road on the other side and the roses smelled really nice, with bees flying all over from the rose to rose and as the dusk is slowly coming to existence on the horizon I took walk towards the car park through cactus park. The various shapes and types of cactus, what is probably natural plant to California was beautiful as some had flowers and seeing this in contrast to fresh rose garden with all colors and smells was interesting. Also the cactus park in on the hill side so I could see the down and opposite hill with some trails for walking, what was the initial plan but as the dusk creeping slowly hand in hand with hunger I decided to hit the road and go home. What a beautiful day it was and what a nice people, talking to me every time I had purchased something or just saying hello as they passed by. Really nice surprise for me. AS I hit the gas pedal the rain started to drizzle down so perfect timing to get out of the park and on the road. Driving is easy as soon as I turned on the navigation as the amount of freeways, exits and lanes is a bit confusing like if you have choose the girl from the beauty pageant while horny as hell, all look great but which one take me home… Anyhow after some time I got orientation as the buildings and advertisements signs are huge and barely moving. I used the navigation when I looked for shiatsu massage what supposed to be the best in San Diego, as it is made by Japanese lady who has nothing only great reviews on the internet but as I parked in and got into reception, the receptionist after brief chat told me that the lady in question went home to Japan for Christmas and will be back in January, doh. So hit the road again and I do have some consciousness towards planet, as using less plastic, recycle yadi yada but have to say V6 Honda hmmm nice drive. Got home talked a bit and then we made plan to go to Balboa Park on Saturday afternoon to experience December Nights and mostly to get proper Langos as we used to at Mlynska Dolina where lived in student dorms since the Hungarian house is making them there during the December Nights and they were sooo yummy but heavy in the belly as I felt them for rest of the day, honestly I should not stuff myself with two probably but they were so tasty. Since the rain was kind of ON-OFF all day from the morning we decided to call it a day as we were all full of food, Jean god fried chicken and corn on hob as well as the fried bananas ‘the green ones, which name I cannot remember now’ but I finished with mint tea to digest the langos and then just walked through the art village where they had fabulous handmade tumblers what I would love to have at home as they were colorful and nice heavy thick glass. Then we ventured to the stone shop where the stones were cut, polished in the group as part of hobby from young to old. Eventually we hit the road and get home as the Saturday was nearly over. We got home and planned the Sunday program but as the rain was still forecasted we said we will adapt in the morning, so Sunday morning I hit the Thai Massage as I the rain was still there and nothing else could be done outside. What a massage ! I felt like a truck run over me and reversed a few times but my leg was better and also my back but not immediately as few hours passed and I have to admit that this was so far best massage I had and I had few over the years but this girl knew what she is doing. Feet’s, elbows all in and sometime I had a nearly cried when she hit the spot in my hamstring what caused discomfort since landed in San Diego. Ahh I forgot the most amazing JAZZ SESSION in Broken X Brewery of Bill Caballo and his band, friends what was best night out ! Great impromptu music jamming with various musicians, singers and it all went till third pint of chocolate beer was gone and music stopped which was around 22:30. I rally loved that music night and sitting at the spitting row i.e front row where we got without reservation as some lady saw us looking for chairs and since I was the only blond guy in the room it was easy spot me and she was later told us that her parents are from Czech so she must recognized my features and blond hair as Slavic features. What a great night, if you around San Diego do google Broken X Brewery Jazz session, it is worth visit. Since the Marcela was off work we took Monday trip to Torrey Pines park with stop at Mexican burrito breakfast and nice coffee with a view on the Torrey Pines park over the horizon with sun beaming in, causing ladies showing off a more skin covered area than I usually expect in December and therefore the view was even better. Some time after breakfast, coffee and chat we finally sat in car and heading toward the Torrey Pines Park to do some walking on the hill overlooking the ocean and as we parked on the side of the road and got out of the car I realized that I could live here for a while as the sound of ocean waves crushing on shore, with fresh breeze and sun make me feel at home. People walking, jogging or just sitting at the beach looking into ocean and trying avoid sea gulls attacks were nice background. WE head off to the trails with few others walkers and also cyclist as well. Slow and easy climb to top we were thinking to take the path down to beach on the way back but to our surprise all the trails were closed due the rain previous day, so we just walked on the road and back with small step in the rancher house where a bit of history is displayed. The one funny fact is that when the road was built through this hill the FORD T has to go uphill in reverse as the petrol was flowing from tank to engine on gravity. It was nice time outside and since we had a Jazz concert that night we head home before the traffic will start. Jazz concert was in the Seville Theatre in the college campus and it was live radio broadcast on KSDS jazz radio San Diego of Christmas themed jazz music with singer who was son of some known musician. Well what a culture / nature day behind me. Tuesday was a hill visit day at Julian town in the hills famous for pies, especially apple pie. Beautiful drive through hills where the spring must be beautiful, with all green around but in December is grey and yellow but still nice. Got a nice home cooked breakfast before we head out for walkabout around the town to see what is there, museums were closed so we just walked around, stopped in bookstore, pie store ‘of course’ got myself a pecan pie and apple pie to go for home so Jean can have some too. What a nice day spent ion nature and with good food. We got home and had a nice time with NETFLIX watching ad funny series THE GOOD PLACE what is funny take on afterlife, worth watching, even if a bit too long to my linking. Well last day came as lighting and I decided to get a last floating session and massage before got on plane. In the morning before massage we went for nice breakfast in North district where Marcela used to lived and after wards to great Italian coffee Calabria since it was sunny and warm we walked around the blocks. Then was time to pick up car and rive to massage what was again great and heavy duty as I would called it 😊 but girl knew what she is doing and used meridian lines to get me better. Then down to the crystal shop to see if anything stick for purchase, which did so I got a present to remember San Diego as well as Christmas present, plus a lotto ticket from the owner who was Polish as we learned when he heard us talking in Slovak. Post office now to send the malfunctioned underwater housing for return and then Floating session before the dinner with Marcela and Jean. As I arrived home from floating session I realized that I left my new sunglasses in the floating shop and as I entered the living room Marcela already mentioned that the Carlos already rang and told here that my sunglasses are there so after Mexican dinner of fish plate I head off again to town to pick them up and then back to pack. Last episodes for THE GOOD PLACE as I was packing and it is bed time and I cannot fell asleep.
Well good bye San Diego, at least for now. It was great time to be there and I wish I could stay longer or maybe come more often is another option 😊
