History day in London

History day in London

History day in hot and sunny London. Yes that is correct it is hot and sunny in London… unbelievable great days of hot sunny days with temperature above 25 degrees Celsia with that yellow round disc on the cloudless blue sky what is not a street lamp but real SUN. Hard to believe that it is only one hour flight from Dublin where the sky is grey and wet as drizzling rain is falling down and the yellow round disc is the street lamp as the clouds are hoovering above permanently or at least nearly permanently. I was a bit cranky when I woke up at 6:30 realizing that I slept only five hours but after few twists and turns on the nice big queen size bed what was really comfortable I decided that there is no point to laying down as well as the stomach was clearly signaling that it is time to throw something down the hatch to the beast so it will stop grumbling and rumbling and will drop a line to the brain that it is ok and no need to bite the head board or bedside table. One prepaid Travelodge breakfast later I was ready to rock and roll on history and sun starting walking at eight o clock down towards the Thames, passing the London Tower where I have not been yet so turned on the heal I stood and booked ticket with audio guide and get in the Tower of London for a nice tour. Walking with rest of tourist, mostly from United States of Orange fringe who were all nice and surprisingly not so loud “ maybe it was early morning and coffee did not kick in yet” but still OMG it was great and OMG it is so old …. Well the younger one were all right or I was too busy checking them out so I did not pay attention to the noise of them 😊 Ahhh no…it was audio guide…. doh now I know why I did not hear them too much, I was listening to the guide telling me all the interesting facts about the Tower Of London that I concentrated on this “phef I’m not sexist” It was great call to be there first thing in the morning as there was not many people around and I have time and space to see and read whatever I wanted in my own time. It is a visit defo worthwhile to take and I’m just sorry that  I had not do beefeaters tour as that would be nice too but I have spent three and half hours there already and want to see something else on this day. I would say that it is easily possible to spend a whole day at Tower Of London if you want to see all and not rushed anywhere. Amazing that these Beefeaters are living there as town in town, while you are walking around the while you are standing on top tier trying to locate all the city landscape as it is engraved in stainless steel plate attached to the wall and see all the washing hanging out to dry on lower tier. They could incorporate it to the official guide of this landscape engraving “starting from the right you can see London Bridge, Then we can see some lovely freshly washed socks, while if you looking through the socks you might be able to see canary wharf if you are lucky and the wind move sock apart” what a tour it will be 😊    Scone and tea later I have finished the tour of White tower and slowly headed to the pier for a boat to Greenwich, plus runaway from those hordes of tourist who now flooded the Tower Of London in bus loads or boat loads, either or it was like the ants were scattered all around the sugar cube accidently dropped down on the ground. So many of the Czech and Slovak tourist around that I was surprised as I heard them all around in between of American English and Spanish so we are finally on the right path to dominate the world ! “Are you pondering what I’m pondering Pinky ?  “

It is time to leave hustle and bustle of the city and head of to the nature and less tourists at Greenwich where the time is set for all of us. Boat is swiftly moving through waves of Thames and wind in hair together with Sun in the face are traveler companions on the way. What a refreshing way a travel in London, boat is so fast and great way to get from one side of London to another in about forty minutes without and traffic jams or problems, since the river is relatively free of such things, plus I can see the town from another aspect. All those glasshouse apartments around the Thames must be great to live in and if it is sunny what a view in the morning / afternoon plus so quiet around. Greenwich is so cool and I mean cool as the temperature since all the green around in this hot weather as well as cool in means of location, area, food and things to see there. Have to admit that see that red ball drop at 1pm is something a bit funny and a bit of interesting, not sure who came up with but in the New York they drop ball on new year eve and in London at lunch. I’m thinking that it might be the same horny guy who came up with such thing in London to hope that someone help him with his balls and since nothing was happening he took the boat for New World i.e New York, hoping for more luck, what must happen as he either get laid on the boat or there but since the ball is dropped only once per year instead of every day he probably got lucky in new world with his accent from the old world. Anyhow on the way back to the pier I had stopped at this lovely market where part of it “biggest part” was the usual tourist trap with trinkets and then small ish part with lovely food, so after some walk and selection I selected the one which took payment by card as I had forgot to take cash since everything in O. Wells utopia is now running cashless. Feeling better with full belly I was happier as man can be after meal. Now on the way to pier stopped at the Sea Cutter ship what is left at pier as museum to remind us how “comfortable” was travelling in those days before we complain because our seat is not too spacious or the movie selection is not of the movies we want to see and giving out to air hostess for no reason just to make ourselves feel better and relieved from pitiful day to day lives where no one cares who we are “ not all the passengers, just a few” well seeing those bunk beds and space they have on the boat makes you think, those were the real travelers, explorers, tough and brave. After such an excursion I had boarded the boat and head off back to city where I suppose to meet up with Mark after work and therefore headed off to the London Eye so I can lay down on the grass and watch the eye going round and round until Mark will arrive and drinking begins. Holy crap… me stupid tried to step on this wall separating walkaway from the grass hill, when I heard loud crack and felt air on my bollocks as mini me fell out through the tear of my jeans what happened when I landed on top of the wall with my right foot. The whole crotch area teared open so I do not need to use buttons when going to toilet or scaring the public around with free willie and his friend hairy balls.  What a laugh…. Well thankfully I had jacket with me so as real pervert I held my jacket pressed right front of my crotch firmly as I walked briskly towards the tube get to the hotel to change pants and simultaneously text Mark that we will meet up at Aldgate instead of Waterloo. Thank God I always pack spare trousers, so this wat the history day is not turned to pervert in jail day. However all good and we were on the drinking tour of London 😊 Not that we drink too much but it is nice catch up with friends and there is no better place than traditional English pub with mini burger “it was sold as main course” and good old-fashioned pint of brew, surrounded by nice professionals enjoying after work drink with colleagues on Friday. Great time to have such a great friends who are making time to meet up despite their long day in office. Great time few, beers, some G&T and then walking slowly home to the hotel, slightly drunk and happy to had culture, history and drink with mates. I was so tired and drunk so when I hit the bed after midnight I did not even remember hitting pillow.

What a great sleep I had wow… so quiet in the room and nice cool but hell I decided to check time since it is Saturday and we are going to meet up with lads at 10am and since it is nice quiet outside it looks like early morning. Turn on the TV and I nearly got a fecking heart attack  as it was half twelve so I jump out the bed and turn on phone where messages and missed calls were waiting for me from lads who were in the town by ten o clock and I was not ☹ jeysus I’m always on time but this time I slept in big time, poor lads were up early morning to meet me and I have let them down. Anyhow since we made contact they calmed down and realized that nothing has happened to me and therefore was no need to go to the police or hospital what they were planning, that is how you know true friends as they care for you. I have become Flash as I took shower, dressed up and run down to reception as lighting and they were already on first beer. We hit the town and the plan was amended since my delay with getting back to land of living after few drinks last night. Since the plan has changed we just walked in for nice coffee and then get into Mithraenum if I remember the name correctly, old ancient Rome god Mithra, what was nice but the main thing is we are together and have good time to catch up, have few drinks to talk so we hit the town and pubs. More G&T and more talk until the midnight and then train station and hotel to get some sleep, since tomorrow is the last day in big town and summer as it is great hot weather with sunshine all days long.

Morning walked down to the pier get a nice breakfast in the lovely coffee shop on the sun and have last walk around the Thames down towards the Canary Wharf, where are less tourists and more locals, enjoying the sunny weather in the city. Great walk in quiet and green area of this town, where old storage and mills are now converted into posh apartment blocks for young trendy people who are making enough dough to be there. Great time in London over all, it was exactly as I expected and made me happy and satisfied. Got back to hotel, walked to Liverpool station and here I was boarding train to airport as it is time to going back to Dublin and leave this fantastic sunny hot weather behind as I was boarded plane.
